while we are on this subject, does anyone know why coffee bean extract is included in Humapro

ive googled the ingredient but all i get is reference to coffee As coffee is generally thought of as a stimulant , i dont get the point
can anyone explain -thanks

Recently, coffee has been getting a reputation as a diet-friendly beverage. Although it has been largely thought that caffeine is the energizing, fat-burning ingredient in coffee, new research is now pointing to chlorogenic acid, a remarkable compound that's found in the unroasted (or "green") coffee bean, but which is largely destroyed during the roasting process.

The chlorogenic acid in green coffee helps you to manage your weight and promote fitness in a variety of ways. First, according to research reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, chlorogenic acid from green coffee reduces excess sugar absorption from the intestines. It also has been shown to help inhibit an enzyme in the liver that releases sugar into the bloodstream. These two effects help to maintain healthy sugar levels so you can control your appetite. The addition of (green) Coffee bean extract/concentrate to HumaPro has been a part of the formula for years so the worlds new found love for the compound is rather gratifying. The initial reason for inclusion in the formulation was due to a noted decrease in gluconeogenesis (conversion of protein/amino acids into glucose or blood sugar) and therefore increased protection from Essential Amino Acid destruction and increased rates of protein synthesis.

Chlorogenic acid has also been shown to speed up the rate of metabolic fat burning, and laboratory studies have even shown a reduction in the size of fat cells.

Second, green coffee bean extract/concentrate contains high levels of caffeic acid which is a powerful anti-oxidant. Decreased free radicals is always a good idea but this compound also helps to inhibit oxidation of proteins thus protect the EAA and Semi-EAA specific ratios.

Does that help?

I do not post often due to time so please bear with me on my forum errors. I plan to post some well sited articles that may help some of you answer your questions...if I get it right. lol
