Doing 10 sets of 10 reps of a single exercise for 3 - 6 weeks depending on gains. Body part split program.
I got sent this in an email from ON

I wonder if it would be more or less effective than training a single body part with 4-6 exercises a day?
Anybody had any good experience from doing GVT?
I tried this but had a bad experience, not for me.
The premise seems logical, until you realize the MASSIVE cortisol release 10 sets of 10 incurs. I haven't tried it on Synthagen tho, that may be next. Overall, I'm no fan of sticking with a given rep range as I consider it the variable (reps) your body adapts quickest to. I understand it's for hypertrophy, but my strength REALLY tanked given I lost touch with the 90th percentile of 1RM. Wasn't a happy camper...
It may serve you well though, as different training stimuli affect us all differently. My $.02...
The original GVT is not for advanced lifters because of the necessary drop on the %RM. When I first tried out was years ago and I never had a training protocol that went under the 6 reps bracket. The 10x10 worked well for the first 3 weeks and even my strenght (for 10 reps) increased. Now I use the advanced GVT, 10x3-5, changed by Poliquin itself where you manipulate rep targets from week to week. It works also very well. But what works for one not necessarly works for others...
